Mike has now released a new version called ‘Workout Finishers 2.0′ which you can grab here.
I’ve had a little think and I have decided to keep the original review up. But, you can get a full in-depth review on Workout Finishers 2.0 here.

- Smash Right Through Your Fat Loss Plateau
- Have More Time to do The Things You Love in Life
This is a Workout Finishers review. Workout Finishers was created by Mike Whitfield, a certified Turbulence Trainer.
increase the amount of calories you burn after your workout.
I’ve
spoken here on the blog about the importance of metabolic resistance
training (MRT), metabolic conditioning training (MCT) and metabolic
density training (MDT) and how effective they can be when trying to burn
fat and lose weight, so when I came across Mike Whitfield’s Workout Finishers I wanted to have a look at what he had to offer.
Now
it’s important to note, workout finishers aren’t a new idea. I use
finishers at the end of mine and my client’s workouts, and I know other
trainers that do the same. But what I haven’t seen is someone who has
laid out these sorts of workouts in an easy to follow book like Mike has
– so full credit to Mike on that one.
Who is Mike Whitfield?
So
as I do with every ‘background’ check, I went into Google and typed his
name in. Now I’m normally used to reading books by trainers, and
nutritionists who have always been healthy and active throughout their
whole life. I quickly released Mike’s story was a little different.
In
late 2002, Mike, who then weighed 300 lbs made a decision that would
ultimately change his life. He set a goal to lose 50lbs before the start
of summer 2003.
As it happens, he ended up losing 75lbs. Mike continued with his fat loss program, and went onto lose 105lbs in total.
Mike, now a certified turbulence trainer, spends his time helping others achieve their fitness goals.
Workout Finishers Review – What is ‘Workout Finishers’?
Firstly let me tell you what a workout finisher is….
“A workout finisher is a small, tough workout that is performed after your original workout”
A workout finisher can be used as a replacement for HIIT, and works best when combined with an MRT workout.
So What Does ‘Workout Finishers’ consist of?
Okay so I went ahead and bought the Mike’s program, and this is what I got;
40 Workout Finishers eBook
This
is the main part of the course. As the name suggests, you are given 40
different workout finishers. The workouts are performed in either one of
two ways;
Circuit Workout – 3 or more exercises performed one after another with no rest. So for example, you would perform;
10 Squats
10 Push Ups
10 Mountain Climbers
And then rest for 1 minute. You would then repeat this workout 3 more time for a total of 4 circuits.
Superset Workout – 2 exercises performed one after another without any rest. So for example you would perform;
10 Bodyweight Squats
10 Burpees
You
would rest for 30 seconds after each set of 20 reps is done, then
complete the superset again twice over for a total of 3 supersets.
After
explaining everything, and giving you all the background information
you need, you are then given the 40 different workout finishers.
After
explaining how each finisher should be done, Mike also explains how you
can make each one easier. Great for those who have just completed a
super tough workout but still want to fit a finisher in.
All exercises are shown with pictures and description
Bodyweight Chaos Finishers eBook
Bodyweight
exercises are a great way to change your workout round, and you can
achieve some great results by just using your own body as resistance.
In
this eBook Mike gives you 12 different workout finishers. Again each
exercise has a detailed description and picture to complement it.
Cardio Addiction Finishers eBook
In
the Cardio Addiction Finishers eBook Mike gives you slightly different
way of finishing your workouts. Instead of using just resistance as a
finisher, Mike focuses on resistance and cardio specific exercises. So,
for example the first finisher consists of using any cardio activity
(treadmill, rowing machine, bike, sprints) and jumping jacks.
Again in this eBook there are 12 workouts for you to complete, completed with full description and pictures.
Torch Workout Program eBook
To
complement his Workout Finishers eBook, Mike gives you a set of
workouts to follow. These workouts are to be performed before your
finishers. All workouts are in the circuit or superset format.
Workouts are built round equipment – basically it is NOT a bodyweight fat loss PDF.
Turbulence Training For Abs 2k11 eBook
This
part of the course I had already purchased, a long time before Mike
released his finishers program. It’s an abs specific program written by
Craig Ballantyne (Author of Turbulence Training). Again these workouts
are to be done before your finishers.
So that’s what’s in Mike’s finishers program. You get 5 eBooks; 3 Workout Finisher programs, and 2 workout programs.
Workout Finishers Review – The Pro’s
There
are a few things I like about Mike program, but something that strikes
me above all else is the layout and simplicity of the way the workouts
are presented.
Normally, when people write a traditional ‘how to’ post, they lay it out in a few easy to follow steps – Workouts however are slightly different.
With
there been so many different ways to workout, so many types of
exercises and so many tempo’s at which you can workout at, explaining
how to do a simple circuit workout can be hard at the best of times.
Mike has made it as easy as possible to follow along.
The other thing that I noticed (which I mentioned briefly above) was the ‘making it easier‘
description. Now when I normally come across workout programs, the
people behind these programs often fail to give you an alternative.
Having
a background in sports and coaching, I am very familiar with the idea
of a progression and a regression and how important it is to have them.
Under each workout Mike has a little section that gives you a slightly easier alternative.
Workout Finishers – The Con’s
The
thing that kind of surprised me was the Torch program. I opened up the
PDF expecting to see a whole host of workouts. – Yet there were only 3.
Now
I know the main product was the workout finishers, but maybe to add a
little more value to the product Mike might add some more workouts next
time.
Just an idea Mr. Whitfield!
Overall Summery…..
After
buying Mike Whitfield’s Workout Finishers, I was pleasantly surprised. I
have nothing but respect for a guy who lost as much weight as he did,
and now helps other people all round the world to do the same thing.
As
I mentioned before the idea of a workout finisher isn’t a new concept,
so I was intrigued to see exactly what kind of twist Mike would put on
it.
With the 40 finishers in the first PDF, the 12 bodyweight finishers in the second PDF and the 12 cardio finishers in the 3rd PDF you’re given more than enough to last you a good while.
The
great thing is, once you have completed Mike’s finishers you could use
the information in the PDF’s to create your own finishers.
I do
like the fact Mike has thrown in two other workout manuals to complement
the finishers – but like I mentioned a minute ago you are only given 3
workouts in the Torch program.
If you were to ask me whether I would recommend Mike Whitfield’s Workout Finishers, I would reply with a big fat ‘YES!’
Why?
Well
because I truly believe if you’re looking for better results from your
workouts, or you’re looking to ‘spice’ up your original workouts
routines, then Workout Finishers is the way to go.
